BE AWARE OF IMPERSONATION SCAMS: Board staff and NABP (National Association of Boards of Pharmacy) will not contact you by telephone and demand personally identifiable information or payment of funds for any reason.
Description of the Scam - In this scam, a pharmacy receives a phone call from someone who claims to represent the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. The caller ID shows a Board of Pharmacy telephone number or NABP’s official telephone number, which bad actors have spoofed to appear legitimate. The caller then attempts to solicit information from pharmacy staff, including information that may constitute personally identifiable information (PII). Caller ID spoofing is a technique used by scammers to make an incoming call appear to originate from a trusted or official source. A familiar phone number on caller ID does not confirm the identity of the caller.
Update re Online Credential Verification Maintenance Notice
Update: Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 6 pm:
We are pleased to report the transfer of our licensure information system to the new server is complete. All services, including the online verification of credentials, have been restored and are operational. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
The Board has acquired new computer servers to host the licensure information system and other components of the Board's internal information system. In order for the vendor of the licensure information system to transfer the data and software to the new server and perform necessary testing, it is necessary to close the licensure information system to all use, including the interface of that information system with the Board's website which permits the online verification of credentials in the licensure information system.
The Board plans to close the licensure information system to all use at 12 noon on Tuesday, April 4, 2017. The Board's website should still be operational; however, the credential verification links will be inactivated. Although functionality may be restored before then, the planned restoration time is 12 noon on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. We appreciate your patience as we retire the current computer servers, transition to the new servers, and position our licensure information system for future upgrades.
