BE AWARE OF IMPERSONATION SCAMS: Board staff and NABP (National Association of Boards of Pharmacy) will not contact you by telephone and demand personally identifiable information or payment of funds for any reason.
Description of the Scam - In this scam, a pharmacy receives a phone call from someone who claims to represent the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. The caller ID shows a Board of Pharmacy telephone number or NABP’s official telephone number, which bad actors have spoofed to appear legitimate. The caller then attempts to solicit information from pharmacy staff, including information that may constitute personally identifiable information (PII). Caller ID spoofing is a technique used by scammers to make an incoming call appear to originate from a trusted or official source. A familiar phone number on caller ID does not confirm the identity of the caller.
Extension of State Office Closure / Hurricane Ida / Aug. 28 - Sep. 5, 2021
The Louisiana Commissioner of Administration has extended the state office closure in several parishes, including East Baton Rouge where the Board office is located. The closure order extends through Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021. As a reminder, Monday the 6th is Labor Day which is a state holiday; the Board office will be closed. Unless the closure order is further extended, the current staff will return to the office on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021.
As previously noted, our office remains adversely impacted by the most recent COVID-19 surge, to the point we do not have sufficient staff to greet visitors in the Board office. If you wish to deliver materials to the office, we have a mail slot near the front entrance door; please deposit your materials there. If you can send materials via email or if you have general questions, we encourage your use of our general email account at info@pharmacy.la.gov. As soon as we have sufficient staff to greet visitors, we will re-open the Board office to visitors. We appreciate your patience in the interim.
