BE AWARE OF IMPERSONATION SCAMS: Board staff and NABP (National Association of Boards of Pharmacy) will not contact you by telephone and demand personally identifiable information or payment of funds for any reason.
Description of the Scam - In this scam, a pharmacy receives a phone call from someone who claims to represent the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. The caller ID shows a Board of Pharmacy telephone number or NABP’s official telephone number, which bad actors have spoofed to appear legitimate. The caller then attempts to solicit information from pharmacy staff, including information that may constitute personally identifiable information (PII). Caller ID spoofing is a technique used by scammers to make an incoming call appear to originate from a trusted or official source. A familiar phone number on caller ID does not confirm the identity of the caller.

Guidance for Influenza ImmunizationAct 287 of 2010 Legislature ~ Pharmacist Administration of Influenza Immunization
Act 287 will become effective on August 15, 2010. On that date and thereafter, pharmacists in possession of a Medication Administration Registration from the Board of Pharmacy will be permitted to administer an influenza immunization to any person seven years of age or older without the necessity of a prescription or medical order, but only if the pharmacist complies with all the provisions of the new law, including (1) immunization must be in conformance with current CDC protocols, (2) pharmacist shall report all such immunizations to the state registry, (3) pharmacist shall report all adverse events to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS), (4) shall maintain records of such immunizations for at least two years, and (5) must obtain and maintain proper credential from the Board prior to engaging in such activities.
In response to questions from several pharmacists about the recordkeeping provisions, the Board adopted a motion during their August 11 meeting. That statement can be viewed here as well as the Guidance Documents section of this website.
