BE AWARE OF IMPERSONATION SCAMS: Board staff and NABP (National Association of Boards of Pharmacy) will not contact you by telephone and demand personally identifiable information or payment of funds for any reason.
Description of the Scam - In this scam, a pharmacy receives a phone call from someone who claims to represent the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy. The caller ID shows a Board of Pharmacy telephone number or NABP’s official telephone number, which bad actors have spoofed to appear legitimate. The caller then attempts to solicit information from pharmacy staff, including information that may constitute personally identifiable information (PII). Caller ID spoofing is a technique used by scammers to make an incoming call appear to originate from a trusted or official source. A familiar phone number on caller ID does not confirm the identity of the caller.
Credential Renewal Cycle for Pharmacists & Pharmacies
The renewal cycle for pharmacist licenses, pharmacy permits, and controlled substance licenses for pharmacies will be open November 1 through December 31. We mailed renewal reminder notices to all active credential holders, reminding you of the three options you have to renew your credentials: (1) online using a credit card, (2) retrieving a paper application form from the Board's website and attaching a check or money for payment of the fee, or (3) sending a written request to the Board office for staff to mail you a paper application form, to which you may attach a check or money order for payment of the fee. For those licensees who wish to use the online portal, the renewal reminder will contain your user name and password. The online portal is programmed to automatically open at 12:01 am on Monday, November 1 and to automatically close at 11:59 pm on Friday, December 31, 2021.
