Pharmacy Technician Certificate Renewal & Reinstatement

Renewal Timeframe

All Pharmacy Technician Certificates expire on June 30 at midnight.

The renewal cycle for this credential is May 1 - June 30 annually.

A pharmacy technician certificate that has not been renewed by June 30 of each year shall expire and be null and void. The holder of an expired license may submit an application, complete with supporting documentation, for reinstatement to the board.

Renewal Notices

A renewal notice will be sent to the email address on file in the week leading up to the renewal cycle. Certificate holders without an email address on file will receive a notice by mail. This renewal notice will include your UserID and the information outlined below.

Automated CPE Audit

The renewal of your technician certificate requires an automated check for Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE) compliance. Please assure you have met the minimum CPE requirements and that your CPE is on file with NABP CPE Monitor, as required by regulation. If you have not met the minimum requirements, or your CPE credits are not on file with NABP CPE Monitor, we encourage you to resolve the matter immediately to avoid your certificate expiring.

Original Pharmacy Technician Certificates issued on or after July 1, 2023 are exempt from Continuing Pharmacy Education (CPE) compliance for this renewal period. You may answer YES to the question regarding CPE, within the online renewal, and you will be routed around the audit. Technicians with a military designation (CPT-M) are also exempt from CPE requirements.
