2025-B ~ CDS Schedules Update - CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES:  Adds substances to the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Law to mirror federal scheduling action.

2024-A ~ Transfer of CDS Prescriptions - the proposal amends state controlled substances law to authorize the transfer of a prescription or prescription information for controlled substances between pharmacies in conformance with federal regulations.

2023-C ~ Immunizations - Amends the pharmacy law to add pharmacy interns and certified pharmacy technicians as authorized immunizers, and further, reduces the minimum age at which a person may receive an immunization.

2023-B ~ PMP Advisory Council Meetings - Amends the state Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) law to reduce the required number of advisory council meetings and to provide for meetings by electronic means.

2023-A ~ CDS Schedules Update - Amends state controlled substances law with respect to scheduling.

  • 02-14-2023 - Executive Committee of the Board considered Draft #1 , then voted to recommend to the Board their approval.
  • 02-15-2023 - Board approved Draft #1 for filing and authorized the Board President to approve acceptable amendments as may become necessary during the legislative process.
  • 02-17-2023 - The Board President approved an acceptable amendment Draft #2
  • 08-01-2023 - Act No. 201 (SB 14), Effective 08/01/2023.

 

2022-H ~ Amends the pharmacy law to add pharmacy interns and certified pharmacy technicians as authorized immunizers, and further, reduces the age threshold from 7 to 3 for influenza immunizations and from 17 to 3 for all other immunizations.

  • 02-02-2022 - Regulation Revision Committee reviewed Draft #1, requested a clarifying amendment, then voted to recommend to the Board their approval of Draft #2.
  • 02-17-2022 - Board approved Draft #2 for filing.

2022-G ~ Amends the pharmacy law relative to the requirements for pharmacist licensure by reciprocity.

2022-F ~ Amends the pharmacy law to repeal the requirement to display pharmacy permits.

2022-E ~ Amends the state prescription monitoring program law, to provide limited access to audit trail information to designated representatives of Louisiana Medicaid.

  • 01-05-2022 - Regulation Revision Committee voted to recommend to the Board their approval of Draft #1.
  • 02-17-2022 - Board approved Draft #1 for filing.  Filing authority transferred to Dept. of Health for their consideration and decision.

 

2022-D ~ Amends the Pharmacy Benefit Manager Licensing Law to require PBMs engaged in the practice of pharmacy to obtain a PBM permit from the Board of Pharmacy.

2022-C ~ Amends the pharmacy law to revise the definition of collaborative practice and add a new section authorizing pharmacists to provide certain patient care services in accordance with statewide protocols developed by the Board's Public Health and Pharmacy Protocol Advisory Committee, a multidisciplinary group composed of physicians, advanced practice registered nurses and pharmacists.

  • 01-05-2022 - Regulation Revision Committee considered Draft #3, requested one amendment, then voted to recommend to the Board their approval of Draft #4.
  • 02-17-2022 - Board approved Draft #4 for filing.
  • 03-04-2022 - Incorporated into SB 329; prefiled for 2022 Regular Session.

 

2022-B ~ Amends the pharmacy law, to change the definition of 'collaborative practice', add a definition of 'collaborative practice agreement', and add a provision authorizing pharmacists to engage in collaborative practice in accordance with rules promulgated by the Board of Pharmacy.

2022-A ~ Amends the state controlled substances law, to add several chemicals to Schedule I as well as serdexmethylphenidate to Schedule IV.
