Medication Administration by Pharmacists
The Board's rules permit a pharmacist or pharmacy intern to administer medications after they have obtained the specified education and training identified in the rule.
Before you engage in this practice, we strongly recommend your review of Section 521 of the Board's rules.
When you are prepared to apply for the Medication Administration Registration credential, you should complete the application form supplied by the Board, Form No. 19.

For pharmacists licensed elsewhere but not in Louisiana and who wish to travel to Louisiana for the purpose of administering immunizations to Louisiana residents, the Board has authorized the issuance of a temporary Special Work Permit in lieu of the medication administration registration which is required for Louisiana-licensed pharmacists and pharmacy interns. The application for that temporary credential for a non-licensed pharmacist is available here.
